School nurse
They take over responsibility for children from the health visitor once they reach statutory school age. School nurses carry out developmental checks, including hearing and vision,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], usually in Year 1 and Year 4. However, the school can ask a school nurse to visit at any time, with parental consent or at parents’ behest,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to carry out checks on children. These checks could concern sight, hearing, weight, height or general health issues.School nurses work with other professionals. The exclusionThe head teacher wrote to the parents of R and F telling them that neither R nor F could come back to school, but that they would be given help in completing their course at home. He should, of course, have told the parents immediately, ideally by telephone followed by a letter, of their right to make representations to the governing body.
