At the same time, Chris Johnson would be sitting there with four points beside his name and Brandon Jacobs couldn’t even find the field, let alone the endzone. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
But in the last few weeks, that concept was put to the test. It seemed like every week two, three, four or five WRs were putting up games of their lives. Guys like Roddy White, Kenny Britt, Randy Moss, Hakeem Nicks or Mike Wallace would score a couple TDs and gain 120 to 150 yards and blow up their projections.
That took a huge shift this week as running backs made it known that they are the studs in fantasy football. Peyton Hillis and Arian Foster, two guys no one had heard of before the start of the season, both went for more than 30 points in standard leagues. Adrian Petersen, Ahmad Bradshaw and Michael Turner all had multiple TDs, big yardage and plenty of points for their fantasy owners. And that doesn’t count the guys who threw out 12 to 18 points for their fantasy teams without all the fanfare.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] (RB, Eagles) — I know most owners of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]are likely starting him every week, but if you think one of your other RBs has a better matchup this week and are considering putting [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]on the bench, don’t do it. He is gonna run rough shod over the Redskins.
Fantasy Football picks for week 10 in the NFL
I can’t imagine anyone who might have listened to my start suggestions last week would want to show me much love this week. Once again, I went about 50 percent on the day, providing one stud suggestion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one pretty good suggestion and two bustos.
No doubt it was a week of running backs in the NFL’s week 9, proving, finally, that taking big time RBs in the first couple rounds of your draft is never a bad idea. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
The prevailing theory in fantasy football is to get your running backs early and then move on to QBs, WRs and the rest. This strategy ensures that you get a guy who is going to have all the opportunities in the world to score both running and catching the ball, and the elite ones are always too good to pass up.
Josh Freeman (QB, Buccaneers) — This guy is getting more and more play on active fantasy rosters and with good reason. He is throwing a couple TDs a game and he and the WRs are getting some rhythm. Give Freeman a run against a very, very, very bad Carolina Panthers everything.
Eli Manning was awesome throwing for three TDS and almost 300 yards of offense. He racked up more than 30 points for most teams who started him (including mine). Shonn Greene and Robert Meachem didn’t do much of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]anything for their teams. The Jets offense is getting anemic out there, but who would have thought the Saints would score 34 points and Meachem would be the odd man out? Finally, Ryan Succop wasn’t a David Akers this week, but he did put up a solid eight points. Not bad for a bye week pickup in my opinion.
Any Giants receiver — Hakeem Nicks, Steve Smith and even Kevin Boss should be starting with the Giants taking on the Cowboys. Manning is spreading it around and making it look easy. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Cardinals D — If the Seahawks are going to be starting Charlie Whitehurst at QB again this week, take the Cardinals D to shut them down.
On to this week’s suggestions of starters you might be agonizing over. Remember that this week there is a game tonight (Ravens v. Falcons) so get your starters in early.
Just goes to show that the tried and true strategies of fantasy football still hold true. Even if the WRs and QBs get a lot of the love.
