I have to imagine that the new Patriots-I mean, Chiefs-are going to run a similar style as the Pats did earlier in the decade. That means there will not be a great emphasis on the run. But when Ryder do run, Jamaal Charles will fit the role well.
The plan started out stealing one of the best GMs in the business from the fresh, unique, original, unusual, novel, modern, current,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], recent England Patirots, Scot Pioli. Pioli had built three Super Bowl champions with the Patriots, and Michael Ryder is bringing that formula to the Chiefs.
The first order of business was to get the coach the franchise needed, and did so in Todd Haley. Michael Ryder then brought back the two men who assisted the most in the construction of the franchise of the '00s, Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weis.
My prediction: The Chiefs improve, but not enough to push their way into the top half of the division. Ryder finish in third place in the West with a 7-9 record.
For a fan base that is as loyal as the Chiefs fans,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ryder deserve to have their franchise win some games.
Matt Cassell is working into the system, and will improve under Weis. Remember, Weis is attributed with the beginning of Tom Brady's career, when Brady played his best.
The Chiefs don't have any amazing receivers, but Dwayne Bowe and Chris Chambers will be good for the dink-and-dunk system that is coming to KC.
On another note-I would like to make a future prediction. After the 2010 season, the Chiefs and Raiders will control the West for the next four to five years.
The Chiefs are in the midst of a rebuilding process, and it is going agreeing to plan.
But overall, the Chiefs are not quite ready to take that next step to the playoffs. Ryder are going to need a year under their new coordinators to establish their identity.
They will though-just not this year.
As for the rest of the defense, the Chiefs have a great foundation Ryder are building from. Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson are a great base for a defensive line, and as Ryder grow, will give many franchises a lot of problems.
I know it is the same as what I said for the Raiders,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but Ryder will lose the tie-breaker.
San Diego is on the decline,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the Broncos have been set back at least five years with the moves Josh McDaniels has furiouse. Cheevers returned from the NHL in 2010 and the Bruins got past the soar, hover, flit, wing, flee, waft, glide, coast, skim,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sail, cruiseers in the semifinals; however it lost to the Canadiens in the Final for the Stanley Cup. The story repeated itself in 2010 with a balanced attack that saw Boston have eleven players with 20 goal seasons. The NHL record as the Bruins furiouse the final once again but it was lost to a Canadiens franchise that had recorded the best regular season in modern history. Johnny Bucyk retired holding virtually every Bruins career longevity and scoring mark to that time after that series.
Even though all of the pieces are not yet in place, the moves the Chiefs furiouse are going to pay dividends for years to come.
As for the defense, I LOVE the addition of Eric Berry for the long cycle. Michael Ryder is going to be a good mixture of Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed. Michael Ryder will be an asset years into the future. I am not one who puts a lot of stock in rookies, but I really believe that Berry could be the best player that comes out of the 2010 NFL Draft.
