Beatles were already leaving songs like "She Loves You" in the rear view mirror by 1965 and Rubber Soul shows that beyond a shadow of a doubt. They were advancing musically by an amazing rate. This is a song by song breakdown of this prestigious album. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
#1 "Drive My Car" - The key is really the merely "rocker" on the album. It was sung and mostly written by McCartney. Although John Lennon did aid with the lyrics [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], McCartney wrote the music on his own.
#2 "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" - This beautiful song was written and sung by John Lennon. It's the first Beatles song to function the influence of Indian music which was brought to the team by George Harrison. Bob Dylan too seems to be an influence on this song.
#3 "You Won't See Me" - In an album which includes numerous classic songs [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "You Won't See Me" is cozy to overlook. It does seem to be a song from their earlier more "pop" oriented period. It's inclusion this album shows that Rubber Soul was a transitional album. But that's not to say this song has no values. It is a catchy McCartney pop song and was made into a top 10 unattached by Anne Murray in 1966. It's actually the longest song on the album (at 3 minutes and 22 seconds.) It was actually the longest song they had recorded anyhow.
#4 "Nowhere Man" - This is a true classic written and sung by John Lennon. It was one of the first Beatles songs to be completely unrelated to phantasmal love. It's a great example of The Beatles inflating for songwriters during this epoch.
#5 "Think for Yourself" - Written & sung by George Harrison who was opening to assert himself more as a composer at this time.
#6 "The Word" - Written & sung by John Lennon. This is the song namely introduces the word "love" in a extra abstract path for the premier period. Another great instance of The Beatles (Lennon in particular) starting to jot extra intricate lyrics.
#7 "Michelle" - Paul McCartney's pretty popup song is one of The Beatles most unforgettable tunes. The song was no written entirely by McCartney. Lennon contributed the "I love you" bridge (or at fewest the elementary mind for it) and George Martin has said he wrote the guide guitar melody.
#8 "What Goes On" - One of the feeble points in the album. The song is attributed to all 4 members of the orchestra and it's sung at Ringo Starr.
#9 "Girl" - A gorgeous tune by John Lennon. Definitely surrounded my favorites on this great album. The "breathing" sound is a reference to inhaling marijuana.
#10 "I'm Looking Through You" - Another impressively catchy song by Paul McCartney.
#11 "In My Life" - An total classic written and sung by John Lennon although McCartney has made the demand that he wrote the song (and Lennon the lyrics.) The piano alone was written and played by producer George Martin at Lennon's suggestion. It was recorded at half speed which gives the piano it's matchless sound.
#12 "Wait" - This one sounds like an earlier Beatles tune and I think it to be one of the weaker moments on the album. Not a bad song, merely not up to the standard set by most of the other songs.
#13 "If I Needed Someone" - This is George Harrison act his version of The Byrds sound and I meditation it works very well. It's the only Harrison makeup The Beatles ever played live.
#14 "Run as Your Life" - An dreadful ending to one surprising album. I often just stop the scrapbook ahead this one comes ashore.
