The over 250 features presented at this 35th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival will be inaugurated tonight with the screening of an intimately Canadian film. Score: A Hockey Musical, directed by Toronto's own Michael McGowen, is a film that unites Canada's passion for Hockey with the consequences of sudden stardom, after a 17-year-old player gets signed by a junior league team.

Who Will be in Toronto for the Festival
Although not a competitive festival, like Cannes or Venice [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Toronto International Film Festival has often been a good predictor of Oscar winning films. Many films have left Toronto to make their way to Hollywood and on to the most influential red carpet event of the Entertainment Industry: American Beauty (1999), Boys Don't Cry (1999), Lost In Translation (2003) and Slumdog Millionaire (2008), just to name a few.
No film festival can be complete without a list of world-renowned celebrities, and Toronto will have its share. Bruce Springsteen, Clint Eastwood, Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Helen Mirren, Clive Owen, Xavier Bardem, Marion Cotillard and Robert De Niro are only a few of the many famous faces that will give Torontonians a taste of Hollywood.

Toronto, September 09 - Starting today and for the next ten days, Toronto will be under siege. Torn between regular film aficionados, international press [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and curious locals, the streets of Toronto will be lined by the many thousands of people that each year flock to this world-renowned event. Many do it for the star-gazing, others for the parties, but films is what this festival is all about, and of those, the world has brought many.
Films will be screened all over the city and at all hours of the day, along with gala events, meet-and-greets and photo-ops. Among the most anticipated films this year are Robert Redford's The Conspirator, which tells the story of Mary Surratt, the only woman charged as co-conspirator in Abraham Lincoln's assassination; Clint Eastwood's latest directorial effort titled Hereafter, a supernatural thriller starring Matt Damon; and The Town, directed by Ben Affleck. Another highly anticipated film is Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan, a dark film that spins around the competition between two rival ballet dancers. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and Oscar buzz has already begun to surround Natalie Portman, for her astounding starring performance.
