idea.” He wrote Alyson a note and put it on the
table in front of Felicity. It read:

I’m taking your car. Will pick you up for lunch.

He looked down at her cereal. “You done?”
“Yeah.” She got up and put her bowl in the sink.
She began to walk past himback out to get her stuff. “?Liss”

Lunchtime found Felicity sitting at a table by herselfeating a
sandwich and a yogurt. She saw Karen across the cafeteriarushing on
her way somewhere else and gave a quick wavebut no Ben and Allie
yet. She wondered if Alyson had even been awake when Ben went to
